Welcome to Romley Sporthorses, a small stud based in Meningie SA

Our property overlooks picturesque parkland and Lake Albert, 1.5hrs South of Adelaide along the Limestone Coast.

Our aim is to produce quality horses for all the olympic disciplines, with a focus on jumping and dressage.

Type, trainability and conformation are of most importance and our Dam lines now include Cassini II, Diarado, Sirocco, Rocaderro, Dutchman, Blue Peter, Precipitation & Pride of Kellina to name a few.

Correct feeding of all horses is a high priority, along with vaccinations, hoof and dental care. Our foals are raised in large paddocks on improved pastures and are given the best care from the start.

We are also very fortunate to have 170ac of prime grazing land on the Fleurieu Peninsula, where we run the broodmares until their last trimester and the youngsters until ready for sale.

This property is a combination of rolling hills, steep stringy bark slopes and fertile grazable vallies. Perfect for letting horses 'find their feet' and be horses. It teaches them to accept changing conditions in temperatures, drinking out of dams and creeks, accostoming themselves to native animals, cows and sheep!

History

Established by Byron and Alice Morley in 2006, whilst living in Parawa on the Fleurieu Peninsula.

Our goal was to produce performance horses of good type and temperament.

Alice has been involved with horses for over 20 years, breeding her 1st foal over 10 years ago. From there her interest in breeding has bloomed, initially breeding Andalusians before purchasing their own sporthorse stallion 'Neverleven Hercules' in 2005. Hercules, much to everyones surprise, was by the Champion black Clydsdale stallion 'McMurchie Newton Stewart', out of successfully raced TB dam 'Lightning Echo'.

Hercules was ridden and competed throughout his serving career, including hunting whilst Alice was pregnant.

Unfortunately it was decided to geld him at 7yo due to family restrictions. Hercules was sold in 2009 to a very competitive home in Tasmania, and is doing really well for his new owner Sarah Steers (pictured below).

Our breeding direction now focuses on a variety of European bred stallions, using both chilled and frozen semen.
